Aim: To encourage students to identify steps involved in choosing a career and lifestyle in the future.
Objectives: To place in chronological order a range of activities needed to reach a career.
Timing: 15-20 minutes
Materials: 1 copy per student of the Activity Sheet
Notes: In pairs or small groups of no more than 4-5, students perform a ’scaffolding’ activity using the information given.
1. Individually, students place the steps given in chronological order.
2. With a partner or the group, students discuss their ‘staircases’ and reach a consensus.
3. In a teacher-led class discussion, the order is finalised and approximate dates, years/months are inserted in the final column.
