Lots of people think that uni is only for certain types of people. You know the ones - hugely smart, constantly studying, or loaded with money. Sure, there are some of those people at uni, but the truth is that uni is a very diverse place. There are country students, Indigenous Australian students, mature age students, international students and students of different abilities, religions and lifestyles.
What’s more, people often underestimate their own potential. They may not be doing as well at school as they’d like, or they’re not sure what they want from the future and so they forget about uni. Or maybe nobody in their family has ever been to uni, so it’s not on their radar at all.
Yet unis these days are keen to help all sorts of people get in to uni and stay there. From access schemes to support with studying, uni is a place where you can really take off!
But don’t take our word for it. Let’s talk to people who decided to go to uni. People who didn’t necessarily think of uni as a first option, but who got in and found that it made a big difference to their lives. And let’s talk about why you’d want to go to uni and how you can get there.
